Dr. Pritom Borthakur is a highly experienced Senior Consultant in Medicine with decades of clinical practice in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of medical conditions. Known for his methodical clinical approach, clear communication, and commitment to patient care, he has been associated with leading healthcare institutions in Guwahati for more than two decades.

He completed his MBBS and MD from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, and later underwent short-term training in Echocardiography at PGIMER, Chandigarh, in 1998.

Dr. Borthakur began an important phase of his clinical career at Down Town Hospital, where he served as Junior Consultant in Medicine and Physician In-Charge of the ICU from 1998 to 2004. He has subsequently been associated with Nemcare Hospital as a Senior Consultant in Medicine for over 20 years and currently also serves as a Consultant at Arogyam Multispecialty Health Clinic.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Borthakur has played an active role in postgraduate medical education. He has served as an NBE Accredited Postgraduate Teacher of Medicine for DNB Courses, contributing to the training and mentoring of postgraduate medical students and future physicians.

He is a Fellow of the Indian College of Physicians (FICP) and a Life Member of several professional organisations, including the Association of Physicians of India (API), Cardiological Society of India, Indian Academy of Echocardiography, and Indian Medical Association (IMA). He has also contributed to professional medical leadership as the Past Honorary Secretary of the Association of Physicians of India, Assam Chapter.

Beyond clinical medicine, Dr. Borthakur is actively involved in science communication and public education. He regularly organises science quizzes and scientific lecture programmes aimed at encouraging scientific curiosity among young people, improving public understanding of science, and promoting health awareness.

He is the Founder President of VIGYAN AALAAP, a society dedicated to the popularisation of science, and is also known for his work as a popular science writer and public speaker.

His interests extend to environmental and conservation initiatives as well. He is a Life Member of AARANYAK, an organisation involved in biodiversity and wildlife conservation, and Save Bharalu Abhiyan, an initiative focused on the protection and restoration of the Bharalu River.
